Discover Elim

Local

We’re thrilled that you have taken the time to discover more about our Church.

We officially opened on 9th September 1933, as Covenant Hall, following a series of evangelistic meetings held in Birmingham by George Jeffreys in 1930, and we’ve been serving our community ever since!

The church continued to offer practical support and hope throughout the dark years of World War II and it was during the war that it began its affiliation with the Elim Pentecostal Movement.

Known as Stafford Elim Christian Centre from 2008 to 2018, and now Hope Church, we are an “international family, who love Jesus personally, bring hope locally and reach out globally.”

We are delighted to work with other churches and ministries throughout Stafford. Someone once said, “Churches are like ice cream just different flavours!” We love bringing our own flavour into the mix as we make Jesus known together, whether we are gathered on a Sunday, or scattered where we do life!

We believe that church should be a relevant, inspiring and exciting place to be, but Church was never about bricks! Church isn’t the building, it’s the people! Church doesn’t simply happen for an hour on a Sunday; you’ll find Church – Jesus followers – everywhere! We love to gather together, we’re still learning! But when we’re scattered across our communities and families, we hope to represent Jesus, His grace and compassion, better today than we did yesterday!

National

Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from Maesteg in South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians. The founders wanted the name of their new movement to express their vision and values, and so chose ‘Elim’, the name of an oasis in the Bible that the Israelites discovered as they wandered through the desert.

In a world that can feel like a desert, Elim’s 21st-century churches seek to be places of spiritual refreshing within their communities.

We are excited to be a part of a growing movement of more than 550 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland. For more information about Elim go to www.elim.org.uk

International

“Partnering with the Spirit in the renewal of all things under the Lordship of Christ.”

Over the years Elim Hope have been supporting many christian charities and para-church ministries who do some incredible work amongst the lost, the last and the least throughout our world.

Elim International Missions are involved in nearly 50 countries around the world, sending missionaries to many different situations, but all with the same aim of reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ. Our missions department also work through a network of Global Partners, and should tragedy strike, because of our colleagues and partners working locally, we can ensure emergency relief and support can be given to those most in need as quickly as possible.
